Locking emerged in the late 60s and early 70s during the funk era in Los Angeles. The founder of the dance style was Don Campbell, who later popularised it with his group “The Lockers” in the TV show “Soul Train”. The group's movements were inspired by cartoons. Locking is usually danced to funk music, is very dynamic and is characterised by “stops” and large arm-heavy movements that are performed at a fast pace.

Biografie
Bana aus Frankfurt am Main hat vor ca. 15 Jahren mit dem Tanzen begonnen und Allstyle-Kurse bei Dance in FFM genommen. Seit 2010/11 interessiert sie sich zunehmend für den Tanzstil Locking. Um diesen Stil zu erweitern, Workshops zu besuchen und an Battles teilzunehmen, ist Bana in verschiedene Länder gereist. 2014/15 besuchte sie die Åsa Folkhögskola, eine Tanzschule in Schweden, um sich tänzerisch weiterzubilden. Sie ist Mitglied der Allstyle Female Crew Déjà Vu und Mixstyle Crew Fusion Art. Im August 2018 nahm sie an der internationalen Veranstaltung KOD in China statt, bei der sie den ersten Platz belegte. Im November 2018 erhielt sie die Möglichkeit, von ihrer persönlichen Tanzbiografie auf einer Ted-Veranstaltung zu erzählen.
