Court is in session at “Hayat Habibi*s” – headed by those who for centuries have been accused in racist narratives of a penchant for criminality: the Roma.
Time for us to press charges! In cooperation with the Schaworalle educational centre, theatre maker and Roma activist Simonida Selimović stages a trial modelled on the Roma justice system (Romani Kris), as practised in many European countries. On a podium on the Zeil, across from Frankfurt’s Higher Regional Court, they bring to trial the discriminatory violence that is hardly ever addressed by law enforcement.
Complainants raise their voices, witnesses testify, musicians perform. Finally, judgement is pronounced – by wise Krisnitori, members of the Roma community, who regard the situation based on a wealth of life experience. Their task is to restore lost balance.

Biografie Simonida Selimović
Simonida Selimović ist eine in Wien lebende Schauspielerin, Regisseurin und Autorin mit Roma-Herkunft. In ihren Projekten setzt sie sich vor allem mit den Themen Migration, Identität und Diskriminierung auseinander. Dabei ist ihr Anliegen, marginalisierte Stimmen hörbar zu machen und das Bewusstsein für die Lebensrealitäten der Roma-Community zu schärfen. Als Regisseurin und Autorin realisierte sie zuletzt Stücke wie „Bibi Sara Kali”, „Land Ohne Land”, „Noncia”, „Romnja City” und „Roma Slavery”, die sowohl in Österreich als auch international aufgeführt wurden.
