In his work, choreographer Sebastian Matthias deals with modular improvisation systems, which he develops collectively with his dancers. The artistic-academic approach of his choreographic practice provided the basis for his dissertation project, which was published in 2018 under the title “Gefühlter Groove – Kollektivität zwischen Dancefloor und Bühne” (Sense of Groove – Collectivity Between Dancefloor and Stage). As part of the HTA lecture series, we will talk to him about the aesthetic possibilities of collaboration in dance.
