In Conversation #1: Integrities, in the plural

Sandra Noeth, Francesca Raimondi and Emilia Zenzile Roig

What does it mean for an individual body, for the body of a collective, to be safe or unharmed? How is the idea of the integrity of a body linked to how we imagine, experience, represent or define a body? The online-series ‘Unversehrtheit: Conversations on the Integrities of the Body’, initiated by curator and scientist Sandra Noeth brings together international artists and researchers across different disciplines and fields of practice. In the first conversation of the series, Sandra Noeth is taking a close at the body and its possible integrities in dialogue with Dr. Francesca Raimondi, at the moment Visiting Professor for Practical Philosophy at Goethe-University Frankfurt and Dr. Emilia Zenzile Roig, founder and executive director of the Center for Intersectional Justice (CIJ) in Berlin. Important will be a relational understanding of the body. Bodies are always in relation and exposed to other bodies. However, experiences of vulnerability and consequent access to care and protection continue to be unequally distributed depending on different intersecting normative orders, stereotypes and discrimination. How to counter this dynamic by strengthening empathy and sensing and working towards an idea of integrity that exists only in the plural?
