Practicing Empathy #3

Yasmeen Godder Company

Over the last 20 years, Yasmeen Godder has been one of the most important figures in Israeli dance. Her choreographies are often created in response to questions of coexistence and the precise yet expressive power of her works is very moving. In 2019, Godder began working on the series “Practicing Empathy”, a performative research project that generated various formats exploring the concept of empathy from different perspectives. In Frankfurt, we will be featuring two parts of the project. “Practicing Empathy #3” is a full-length solo that Yasmeen Godder created for herself for the very first time. It premieres in the Mousonturm-BAU as part of Frankfurter Positionen and reflects the radical experiences of the last few months, as the COVID-19 pandemic changed the world. The choreography unfolds as a real-time document of isolation, limitation and inner discoveries. How do we encounter others, how do we connect emotionally and how do we care for ourselves?
