John Lennon was a musician, composer and peace activist. Today, the Brit would have been 80 years old. But he only lived to be 40, because he was assassinated in New York on 8 December 1980. The day on which millions of fans lost their idol also celebrated its 40th anniversary in December 2020. Now the concert/talk "The LOKAL Listener" pays tribute to John Lennon at a special talk and concert with various guests from the music scene, who will all present their own perspective on one of the greatest pop musicians in history. Jazz guitarist Max Clouth and singer and sitar player Tony Clark trace Lennon's connection with Indian music. The members of the Heine Choir around choirmaster Wolfgang Barina lend his music a special polyphony. As a cantautore with Sicilian-Sardinian roots, Giuseppe “Gastone” Porrello looks at a songwriter he has actually dealt with far too little. The two voices of singer-songwriter duo Romie enchant every song by their idol. Actor, pianist and singer Paul Sies will be scrutinising Lennon's lyrics. Last but not least: singer-songwriter Tigisti with a very different perspective on the ex-Beatle based on her own Eritrean roots. May the Mousonturm shine in the sky this night like New York's Empire State Building in honour of John Lennon's 80th birthday last year – all in blue. Give Peace a Chance!
