The New York band Nation of Language has attracted a growing international audience with its upbeat and passionate interpretation of new wave and post-punk traditions and is now on tour in Germany. Their hopeful music, characterised by soaring melodies, twinkling synth lines and the towering voice of frontman Ian Devaney, is a ray of hope in times of fear, cynicism, hatred and nastiness.
While their sound and song-writing has evolved over three albums, the band's fervent style has also taken on a distinctive quality, earning them major accolades from NME, Rough Trade, Pitchfork, Clash and more. After performing at Pitchfork Festival, Primavera Sound and Outside Lands and preparing for their biggest headline tour to date, Nation of Language's third full-length album, ‘Strange Disciple’, was released in 2023.
