Anti-Discrimination

Voluntary Commitment to Anti-Discrimination

At Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm, we are fully committed to the values of freedom, human rights, democracy, the rule of law  and tolerance. We therefore reject all forms of discrimination, including racism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, antiziganism, ableism, sexism, queerophobia and classism.

The production houses see themselves as places of diversity where people with different biographies, interests, convictions and expectations and from different social backgrounds come together. Our social task and obligation is to make these places discrimination-sensitive spaces for everyone, regardless of origin, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, disability, religion, culture, residence status, age, class, appearance or other identities and attributions.

We are committed to an active approach to preventing all forms of discrimination. We are committed to encouraging our employees, our cooperation partners, artistic, technical and administrative production teams, guests and our audience to contribute to a culture and atmosphere of mutual respect and acceptance in the spirit of solidarity at all times. If we become aware of incidents of discrimination, we will immediately address them and take action.

We have appointed spokespeople qualified in anti-discrimination work to whom persons harmed can turn to. We train the employees of our institutions in anti-discriminatory practices and actively campaign against abuse of power, sexual harassment and bullying . We are committed to penalising specific cases of discrimination in consultation with those harmed and to counteracting institutional discrimination through changes in our institutions. We also address the topic discursively and artistically in our programme. We consider this work to be an on-going process that must be subject to regular self-critical review.

Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm shares this commitment with all the theatres in the Alliance of International Production Houses: FFT Düsseldorf, HAU Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin), HELLERAU - European Centre for the Arts (Dresden), Kampnagel (Hamburg), PACT Zollverein (Essen) and tanzhaus nrw (Düsseldorf).
