In a society characterised by diversity, inclusive cultural practices encourage us to orientate ourselves towards the abilities and needs of different people and to allow for new perspectives on artistic practices and forms of collaboration. It inspires a process that benefits everyone. Our programme aims to enable artistic innovation and compensate for existing disadvantages experienced by people with disabilities.
By creating the new position of Coordinator for Accessibility and Inclusive Cultural Practices, when Anna Wagner and Marcus Dross took on the role of joint artistic directors, Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm is focusing not only on artistic practices, but also on addressing issues on the management level, so that the strategic and programmatic orientation of the house is informed by the perspective of an expert with disabilities.
Thanks to comprehensive evaluation and advisory support, we have identified structural and specific barriers and are now working systematically to transform our processes and our programme in terms of inclusive cultural practices.

Inclusive cultural practice thrive on e.g. learning from each other. The network series Forum Inklusive Kulturpraxis (FinK), organised by Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm (MT) and the Office for Multicultural Affairs (AmkA), invites participants to engage in an exchange of experiences and ideas. FinK aims to create time and space for disabled, deaf and chronically ill cultural professionals as well as non-disabled cultural professionals to share knowledge and form new or closer alliances. We are also connected to other professionals in the field via an inclusive network of cultural practitioners. The !NK- Inklusives Netzwerk Kulture.V. is a nationwide network that includes artists, theatre makers, cultural practitioners, presenters and institutions with and without disabilities. As a regular exchange platform, the network offers the opportunity to address burning issues, to network in terms of cultural policy and to critically reflect on and initiate inclusion processes. “Nothing about us without us” is a famous statement by the disability movement, which also applies to !NK e.V. The network is a forum for self-determination and is disabled led. It is important to all participants to have a fair, grassroots democratic exchange at eye level, regardless of position, education or disability. The meetings take place via Zoom and are open to all who are interested.
